Bonding, an Overview
Atoms and elements bond because they want stability. They react, until they reach a happy place.
Metallic Bonding: "giving away" Metals with themselves, or other metals
Ionic Bonding: "stealing" Non-metals with metals
Covalent Bonding: "sharing" Non-metal with non-metal.
These two tables give very good summaries of different types of bind, and the properties these substances exhibit. I wish I had of found them before my bonding test!
And if you're asked to classify a substance into its bond type, this flow chart is amazing:
